I received my professional accreditation in Fine Art through The Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) in January, 2016. Later that year, I also earned accreditation in Child Study. My accreditation gave me eligibility to enter the PPOC's juried National Image Salon, which I was excited to do!
Less than half of the submissions make it into the salon (scoring an ‘Accepted’), perhaps 15% will score ‘Merit’, and very few will reach the ‘Excellence’ level. The images that make it into the Salon are printed in a coffee table book of inspiration, which showcases the ‘Best of the Best’ of Canadian professional photography for the year. A panel of 5 Master Photographer judges determine which images make it in.
Here you have it! My first foray into professional image competition as a newly accredited photographer.
I learned a lot and managed to get two images in! Woo hoo!
